O Lord, you have searched me and known me!
You know when I sit down and when I rise up;
you discern my thoughts from afar (…)
Even before a word is on my tongue, behold, O Lord, you know it altogether.
(…) Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high; I cannot attain it.
Where shall I go from your Spirit? Or where shall I flee from your presence?
(…) even the darkness is not dark to you; (Psalm 139: 1-12 NIV)
This first truth reminds you that you are never alone. God knows your pain, suffering and struggles. He knows your most cherished dream. He knows it all. So:
Great is our Lord, and abundant in power; his understanding is beyond measure. (Psalm 147:5 ESV)
Everything is impossible to God and we have access to this power simply by asking and bringing our petitions to Him through Jesus Christ. EVERYTHING! Think of something. Now make it harder. That thing you have been praying about for decades. That thing that you have given up on. Well it is included in EVERYTHING!
If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him! (Matthew 7:11 NIV)
Now, if you grow up without a father like me, this is the hardest one to digest. Most humans believe in an all-knowing and all-powerful God but does He cares about me? And that is what is keeping people away from coming to Christ and keeping too many Christians from truly live in freedom.
The more you spend time with God the more you will understand and accept his love. Today my devotional reminded me : “there are times when God cannot lift the darkness from you, but you should trust Him. At times God will appear like an unkind friend, but He is not; He will appear like an unnatural father, but He is not; He will appear like an unjust judge, but He is not.” (My Utmost for His Highest) I don’t think there is anything more for me to add to this quote.
When you fully understand that the only all-knowing and all-powerful God loves you more than the best earthly father (Think of your own father, the kind of father your husband is to your kids or a father you’ve admired from afar) could ever love their kid, only then you will start to truly overcome life. Your prayer life will become stronger because you are certain of the fact that the God who can do it all is looking out for you.
